Requires 12, 13 or 14 solar panels wired in series to achieve minimum start voltage. The Sunny Boy inverter should be mounted in the middle of a ground mount array.   Unlike the Sunny Island, which must be kept inside, the Sunny Boy inverter is outdoor rated.   The Sunny Boy inverter comes with an integrated disconnect.  You will wire each row of panels in series and connect the ends back to the the Sunny Boy combiner box / disconnect.  You will only need 4 long PV wires to connect the ends of the panels back to the combiner.  We have to use PV wire that has an MC4 connector (standard for a solar panel).  If you cut off the connectors, you void the panel warranty.  We take 4 very long wires, with male and female MC4 connectors on each end, stretch the cable in half and cut the cable in the middle.  This leaves us with the MC4 connection for the solar panel, and an open end of the cable to land in the combiner.
